Marty Whelan has admitted he turned down opportunities with other women – to stay faithful to his wife.
The RTE host has been with former Air Hostess Maria since they were teenagers, and revealed although he had the chance, he never strayed.
“Of course there would have been (opportunities) but you have to mind yourself in that regard because that’s not the price I want to have to pay,” he said.
“We met very young, we’ve been together all this time. She knew me when I was in insurance,” he explained.

“I never felt I missed out on sowing my wild oats because sure can’t I sow my wild oats at home?,” he told the Sunday Independent.
“It didn’t really occur to me. I’m not saying it didn’t visit itself upon me, or that there weren’t opportunities, but you have choices.
“It was an exotic life, but then I always went home.
