Lucy Kennedy admits: 'It was a hard blow when Blind Date was cancelled'

TV presenter Lucy Kennedy has opened up about her show Blind Date getting canned.

The TV3 darling revealed her dating show idea was blown out of the water by the station’s new content boss.

“When I heard Lynda [McQuaid] was taking over I was delighted because I really like her and respect her and everything she touches turns to gold,” she said.

“And because of that it wasn’t that hard a blow when she told me Blind Date wasn’t happening.

“But she is right – times have changed and now it’s all about things like Tinder and Plenty Of Fish,” she admitted.

“It is an out-of-date format now so that’s that.

“But there are some things in the pipeline and Lynda has gone through a few ideas with me so it’s just a case of where we are going to go with it,” she added.

The bubbly brunette admitted she’s brimming with ideas since moving to the Ballymount broadcaster.

“I am only in TV3 a year and a half so I am still the new girl and I am loving every minute of it,” Lucy told the Mirror.

“There are loads of great shows we can do in TV3 and everything Lynda has commissioned has turned to gold so with her on the case I’m laughing whatever happens.”

Although enjoying her time fronting the Seven O’Clock Show, Lucy admitted she only wants to present shows she believes in.

“That takes up a lot of my time too and I love what I do. I am really comfortable where I am and I am enjoying it,” she revealed.

“Whatever happens would have to be something I really want to do.

“I don’t want to present a show for the sake of being on the telly. I want to present a show that I love,” she said honestly.
