RTE star Kathryn Thomas has defended herself against Pope Francis, after condemning modern couples for not having children.
The Voice of Ireland presenter admitted that she no longer lives her life by the church.
“One minute he is going on about the fact that Catholics are breeding like rabbits and having too many children, the next he is choosing to say modern couples are selfish for choosing not to have them,” she said.
“As the leader of the Catholic Church, he is supposed to show compassion and understanding, not insult people.

“Because I am childless in a modern world, does that make me greedy?
“Some couples choose to have children and others do not; surely that is their decision,” she wrote in the Daily Star.
Kathryn, 36, added that people need to do what they want when it comes to children.

“The days of being told how to live our lives by the Church are over,” she said.
“Yes we can follow our faith, pray to God, try to lead a good life. But when it comes to children and family life, in my mind, that is nobody else’s business but their own.
