Grainne Seoige reveals why moving to South Africa was a ‘relief’ for her private life

Grainne Seoige has revealed why moving to South Africa was such a “relief” when it came to her private life.

The TV star moved to Pretoria to live with her fiancé Leon Jordaan, who works as a rugby coach, and was relieved to find that nobody recognised her over there.

“I love it. It’s such a relief. Don’t get me wrong, I love being in Ireland, and I love when Irish people come up and say ‘hi’, because Irish people are so friendly.

“But the writing about your private life, I struggle with. Being away gives me a break from that,” she told VIP Magazine.

The presenter also argued that just because someone has a career on camera, doesn’t mean they want to live their life under a spotlight.

“I think people find it quite hard to believe that someone who is on the TV could be introverted.

“I went into it because I wanted to be a journalist. Just because I am on TV does not mean I am comfortable being in the public eye. It’s no secret that I’ve always struggled with it, and with the focus on my private life,” she explained.

All business: Grainne and Leon are focusing on their business right now – but will wed when the time is right | INSTAGRAM

Although Grainne and Leon are set to wed, they are yet to make any plans for their nuptials as they’re focusing on their new diamond business right now.

“I think it would be very stressful to get married now when everything is so new in the business.

“I want to enjoy that day when it comes, I really do. And I want to be very, very relaxed and I think if we did it now, the day wouldn’t be as much fun as I want it to be. So we’ll let everything settle, then we’ll organise the ‘big day’.”

“I think everyone has their own story and their own journey and I am just very grateful for where I am and for the relationship I am in,” she added.
