Graham Norton: 'I was disappointed when ex-boyfriend kissed and told on my wine binges'

TV star Graham Norton has admitted he was left disappointed when his ex-boyfriend sold a kiss and tell story on him.

The BBC presenter was angered when Trevor Patterson – who he’d been dating for two years until they broke up in 2013 – told of his booze addiction and obsession with his dogs.

The Canadian software designer revealed that Norton, who was 20 years older than him, would drunkingly fall asleep in his dogs’ basket after four bottles of win and even chartered a private jet to fly his pooches to New York.

Asked how he felt about Trevor’s kiss and tell, he replied that it was “disappointing” but knew it was coming.

He added: “I got some stuff taken out. But you know, I could have stopped it. I thought, better not to… it’s a revealing thing to do.”

But previously Graham did help American Scott Michaels, who he had a five-year affair with, negotiate a newspaper deal.

He added: “The first time was fine. That was Scott. My agent and I negotiated his deal. He’d been approached by somebody.

“I said, ‘How much have they offered you? Well, that’s not enough. We’ll get you more than that.’ I didn’t take a cut, but I did have picture approval, so it was all good.”

Meanwhile, Graham tells The Times that he finds it tough to convince anyone his own age to go out with him.

He said: They don’t want to go out with me. I would like to go out with someone my own age. But that seems impossible.

“I don’t mind going out with younger people. But it seems weird. When I was younger, I didn’t go out with older people.”

Now Graham – who has replaced his boyfriend need with his dogs – admits he does wish he had kids.

He said: “Looking back, I regret – and I don’t use that word often – but I suppose, I do regret not having kids.”

He added: “When it was appropriate, I didn’t. When it was appropriate, I could hardly look after myself.”
