The Lord Mayor has announced that Dublin will indeed host a Civic Reception for the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor.
Conor McGregor won the UFC Featherweight World Title last Saturday, by defeating reigning champion José Aldo in the fastest championship victory in UFC history by knocking José out in the first 13 seconds.
The Civic Reception will take place towards the end of January, to mark his triumphant win.

The Lord Mayor CrÃona Nà Dhálaigh said, “I am delighted to honour Conor McGregor, World Champion, in his home city of Dublin and acknowledge his wonderful achievement in the sport of UFC.”
“He became World Champion in such stunning style and was watched by many Irish people in the early hours of last Saturday morning.”
“We have held discussions with his team, and we will hold the reception in City Hall towards the end of January 2016,” she added.
