Dublin actor confirms role in latest Marvel film – six years after asking Stan Lee for a job

Dublin actor Barry Keoghan has shared an example of where the power of belief can get you.

The Irish star took to Twitter to explain how six years ago in 2013, he tweeted director Stan Lee to ask for a role in a Marvel film.

“2013… the power of belief” to reply tweeted to a post which tagged the executive producer and read “please make me a superhero.”

The actor was recently confirmed to star in Marvel’s upcoming superhero flick The Eternals, directed by Chloé Zhao.

The news was announced at the Disney D23 Expo in California on Saturday.

Barry will portray the role of Druig, a superhero all-rounder with powers like superhuman speed, strength, healing, flight and teleportation.

So far, the confirmed cast includes Angelina Jolie (Thena), Richard Madden (Ikaris), Kumail Nanjiani (Kingo), Salma Hayek (Ajak) and Brian Tyree Henry (Phastos).

Barry has previously starred in Dunkirk and Love,Hate.

The brand new superhero movie, which will be released by Disney in November 2020

The film is based on Jack Kirby’s 1976 comic book series.
