Chris O’Dowd has revealed why he and his wife Dawn O’Porter decided to leave America after over 10 years.
The couple spent more than a decade living in Los Angeles before they moved back to the UK with their two children Art and Valentine.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, the 44-year-old confirmed the family-of-four now call London home.
However, the Boyle native explained he’s constantly over and back between the UK and Ireland.
“Obviously, I’m back at home all the time, and that was one of the reasons we moved from the States to the UK last summer and decided to come back to London, essentially.”
When asked to share the other reasons behind their move, Chris confessed: “Honestly, I think it’s a bunch of different reasons.”
“Some of them are just normal middle-aged reasons – our parents are getting old, our kids are kind of starting secondary school and we always knew we would come back anyway, all that kind of craic. And then America for the last few years – it’s been wild.”
The Irish actor also confessed former US president Donald Trump’s second run at the Oval Office pushed them to leave when they did.
“Every election cycle is just an absolute maelstrom of madness, so I wouldn’t say that it was a huge factor in it, but it definitely was a factor in the timing of it,” he explained.
“It’s like, there’s no harm in missing an election cycle, but more than anything, we just miss being in Ireland and being here in London, and I think that’s probably why.”
Chris and Dawn tied the knot on August 24, 2012 at a stylish townhouse in London called 33 Portland Place.
The couple have since welcomed two sons – Art, 9, and Valentine, 6.
