13 Of Ireland’s Most Successful Men

As it’s International Men’s Day, we wanted to celebrate some of Ireland’s most successful international stars.

From the men leading the way in sports to our favourite actors and singers, we’ve listed 13 of our most successful men in the public eye:

Conor McGregor

First up is MMA star turned businessman Conor McGregor.

The father-of-two is without a doubt one of the most famous sports stars in the world, let alone one of Ireland’s most successful men.

From landing on the Forbes Rich List countless times to creating a billion-dollar whiskey brand (Proper No. Twelve), at 31 the Dublin star has still a big career ahead of him.

Not only does the UFC star sell-out pay per views like no one else, he also has commercial deals with the likes of Reebok, but Burger King and he also has his own clothing line August McGregor.

Right now the sports star is training for his highly-anticipated UFC return in Las Vegas on January 18th.

Niall Horan

Next up is top international selling artist Niall Horan.

The Mullingar man first came to fame thanks to One Direction, being apart of one of the most successful boy bands of all time.

But since then Niall has carved out an incredible solo career, landing in the top charts and performing all over the world.

At the tender age of 26, we’re expecting even bigger and better things from this guy.

Colin Farrell

Next up is Colin Farrell, one of Hollywood’s most famous stars.

The Dublin actor has entertained audiences from all over the world in movies like In Bruges, The Recruit, Minority Report, Phone Booth and more.

Most recently the father-of-two starred in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them and Dumbo.

At 43-year-old the LA-based star has more projects in the works but admitted he wants to take more time out to spend with his children.

Chris O’Dowd

He’s not only majorly successful, but he’s also seriously sound, so we had to include Chris O’Dowd on this list.

He won over the hearts of millions thanks to his role in Bridesmaids back in 2011.

The Boyle man had some huge wins this year alone, landing his first Emmy nomination and Emmy win for his role in US series State of the Union.

Bono

With a net worth of over €600 million, sell-out world tours and multiple business ventures, it’s no surprise that Bono is one of Ireland’s most successful men.

From forming U2 in 1976, to becoming one of Facebook’s first investors in 2009 and 2010, the Dublin star has made a lot of very intelligent decisions.

In recent years Bono has become more known for his work in activism.

Jamie Dornan

Next up is Irish heartthrob Jamie Dornan.

He burst onto the international scene thanks to his role as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades franchise in 2015.

Thanks to the role the former model landed campaigns with the likes of Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss and more.

In recent years Jamie has focused on more indie movies and is currently in Mayo filming Wild Mountain Thyme alongside Emily Blunt.

Michael Fassbender

Another Irish star to make it big on the international scene is Michael Fassbender.

The Kerryman hit the big time thanks to his leading role in the X-Men series and quickly won critical acclaim for his role in Shame.

In 2013 he got an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 12 Year’s A Slave and in 2016 he was nominated for Best Actor for his leading role as Apple founder Steve Jobs in the self-titled film.

Barry Keoghan

Barry Keoghan accepts Oscar Wilde award

His star is still very much on the rise but Dublin actor Barry Keoghan is already making waves around the world.

The former Love/Hate star has already landed huge roles alongside Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman and was recently cast in the new Marvel movie The Eternals.

The actor, 27, has already fronted a campaign for fashion house Dior.

Right now Barry is currently living in Los Angeles with his long-time girlfriend Shona Guerin.

Liam Neeson

Of course, Taken star Liam Neeson has to be on our list of Ireland’s most successful men.

At 67 Liam is one of the world’s leading action stars, thanks to the Taken franchise.

The Ballymena-born actor burst onto the scene thanks to his Oscar-nominated role in Schindler’s List.

Liam carved out an entirely new career as an action star when he was cast as Bryan Mills in the Taken franchise in 2008.

Rory McIlroy

Next up is world-pro golfer Rory McIlroy.

At 30-years-old Rory is one of Ireland’s richest stars, thanks to big wins and an on-going commercial deal with Nike.

His deal with Nike alone is rumored to be worth €180 million and Rory is definitely enjoying his money, with a lavish house in Florida, cars and a fairytale wedding in Ashford Castle in 2017.

The sports star had won three majors by the age of 25 and is hoping to secure his fourth.

Shane Lowry

When it comes to the sporting world, this was definitely Shane Lowry’s year.

This year the whole world watched as he won the 2019 Open Championship.

It is believed Shane trebled his income from sponsorships thanks to the major win.

Pierce Brosnan

Next up is our favourite Meath man Pierce Brosnan.

He charmed his way into all of our hearts when he played James Bond from 1994-2005 and he is still one of Ireland’s most-loved stars.

Most recently he has become known for his role in the Mamma Mia franchise.

The Irish star now lives in Malibu, California and frequently shares doting posts on social media with his wife Keely.

Last but not least to finish off our list of Irish International Male Stars we have to include our favourite Irish boyband; Westlife.

Nicky, Shane, Mark and Kian are loved and adored by fans all over the world, and this year they made dreams come true when they confirmed their comeback tour.

The foursome have just released their new album Spectrum and are planning to continue their world tour into 2020.

It’s without a doubt that Westlife are one of Ireland’s most successful bands, and their careers continue to soar.
