Girls Aloud poke fun at iconic clip of Cheryl insisting they would never reunite

Girls Aloud have poked fun at an iconic clip of band member Cheryl insisting they would never reunite.

The pop group took to Instagram to post a funny joke about their previous claims that they would never get back together.

They re-enacted the viral meme of when Lady Gaga was shown how her red carpet dress looked like one Judy Garland wore in Star Is Born.

In the video, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts sat behind Cheryl as she mimed the words: “Oh look… you know what? I don’t… I… we didn’t say that, no, but it looks an awful lot like that doesn’t it?”

They wrote over the video, “Cheryl: ‘there’ll be no reunions though'”, while they all looked around awkwardly.

They captioned the post: “So… yeah, anyway… See you at #TheGirlsAloudShow next month.”

In their Off The Record docuseries back in 2006, Cheryl famously ruled out any plans for them to reunite in the future.

She said: “There’ll be no reunions, can you imagine 30 odd-year-old singing I’m just a Love Machine?”

However, the group went back on their word when they announced that they would be reuniting for a tour, 21 years after the band was formed.

The band’s return to performing was confirmed when the group announced a UK and Ireland tour back in November 2023.

The lucrative comeback will see Girls Aloud kicking off their tour in Dublin this May, their first tour as a band since 2013.

It will also mark their first time performing since their beloved bandmate Sarah Harding died of cancer in 2021.
