Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will reportedly return to the US “almost immediately”, after attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on Monday.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew to the UK earlier this month for a string of charity events, and extended their stay following the death of Her Majesty on September 8.
The couple’s two children, Archie and Lilibet, stayed in the US with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland.
A source told Us Weekly: “Meghan and Harry are preparing to return to Montecito almost immediately after the funeral, where they’ll be reunited with Archie and Lilibet after being separated for over two weeks.”
The insider noted it’s “the longest amount of time” the couple have been apart from their children.
“They’ve missed the kids like crazy and have been FaceTiming them every day, but can’t wait to see and hold them again after a poignant few weeks,” the source added.
Meghan and Harry stepped down from their roles as senior working royals back in 2020, and relocated to California.
In the wake of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, their children Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, now have the right to new royal titles.
King Charles III, Harry’s father, has agreed to issue letters patent that will bestow the title of Prince and Princess upon the toddlers; however, they will not be granted His/Her Royal Highness (HRH) status.
Meghan and Harry are reportedly “furious” over this, arguing that their children will be left with inadequate security and also reportedly pointing out that Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Prince Andrew’s daughters, possess HRH status although they are not working royals.
Following the death of the Queen, the Palace updated the line of succession on their website to reflect Prince William and Kate Middleton’s new titles as Prince and Princess of Wales.
However, Harry’s two children are currently listed with their original stylings.
Archie’s title remains Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, and Lilibet’s remains Mistress Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.
