Taylor Swift responds to accusations she ‘stole’ her new album’s logo

The singer released a brand new album last week

Taylor Swift’s team have responded to accusations that she stole the logo from her new album Folklore.

The singer announced the surprise release of her eighth studio album last week, after recording the album during the coronavirus pandemic.

Following the release, Amira Rasool, CEO of fashion e-retailer The Folklore, accused Taylor of copying her brand’s logo on Twitter.

In a statement issued to Good Morning America, Taylor’s team responded to the accusations by stating: “Yesterday, we were made aware of a complaint that the specific use of the word ‘the’ before ‘folklore album’ on some of the folklore album merchandise was of concern.”

“Absolutely no merchandise using ‘the’ before the words ‘folklore album’ has been manufactured or sent out.”

The statement continued, “In good faith, we honored her request and immediately notified everyone who had ordered merchandise with the word ‘the’ preceding ‘folklore album’ that they will now receive their order with the design change.”

Amira later expressed her gratitude on Twitter, and thanked Taylor and her team for resolving the issue.

“I commend Taylor’s team for recognizing the damage the merchandise caused to my company @TheFolklore’s brand,” she wrote.

“I recognize that she has been a strong advocate for women protecting their creative rights, so it was good to see her team is on the same page.”

Announcing her latest album on Instagram last Thursday, Taylor wrote: “Before this year I probably would’ve overthought when to release this music at the ‘perfect’ time, but the times we’re living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed.”

“My gut is telling me that if you make something you love, you should just put it out into the world. That’s the side of uncertainty I can get on board with. Love you guys so much,” she added.
