Selena Gomez reveals she was fat shamed while battling Lupus

Selena Gomez has opened up about her body image.

The star revealed that she was “attacked” for her fluctuating weight while she battled autoimmune disease Lupus.

The star told Giving Back Generation that fluctuations in her weight during the early days of her illness were for various reasons.

“It depends on even the month, to be honest, so for me I really noticed when people started attacking me for that,” she said.

“That got to me big time. That really messed me up for a bit.”

The star had a kidney transplant last year due to her illness.

Selena has enjoyed her break from social media during her illness, as she learned to be more present in the moment.

“I’m very happy with living my life and being present. Because that’s it. Similar to me posting a photo and walking away; for me that’s it. I will do a red carpet, I will do whatever; I don’t need to see it; I participated; I felt wonderful and that’s where the extent of it is. I don’t care to expose myself to everyone and hear what they have to say.”

The singer received the ultimate gift of life from her best friend, Francia Raisa, who donated the kidney.

The star was diagnosed with Lupus in 2015.
