The pastor at Aretha Franklin’s funeral has been forced to apologise to Ariana Grande.
The singer flew to Detroit to perform at the icon’s funeral, but had an awkward situation with the funeral pastor as he joked about her name and held her around the waist.
Bishop Charles H. Ellis III firstly made a joke about the 25-year-old, as he stated that he thought her name sounded like something from Taco Bell.
The pastor then put his arm around Ariana’s waist, with his fingers touching the side of the singer’s chest.
Many fans immediately took to social media as they spread #RespectAriana on Twitter.
After the backlash the pastor received, he apologised to the singer in an interview with the Associated Press and said: “It would never be my intention to touch any woman’s breast… I don’t know I guess I put my arm around her. Maybe I crossed the border, maybe I was too friendly or familiar but again, I apologise.”
