Paris Hilton opens up about her past abusive relationships

Paris Hilton has opened up about her past abusive relationships.

The hotel heiress spoke candidly to People ahead of her upcoming This Is Paris documentary, which premieres on YouTube on September 14th – shedding light on her personal life.

Paris admitted that she got so used to abuse she endured by staff at an American boarding school in the 1990s, that she thought abuse in relationships was “normal”.

“I went through multiple abusive relationships,” she told the publication, “I was strangled, I was hit, I was grabbed aggressively. I put up with things no one should.”

“I had become so used to [abusive behaviour at school], that it made me feel like it was normal.

“They all seemed like such nice guys and then the true colours would show,” she said of five of her ex-boyfriends.

“They’d get jealous, or defensive or try to control me. And there there would come a point where they would become physically, verbally and emotionally abusive.

“I didn’t really understand what love or relationships were. I thought that them getting so crazy meant that they were in love with me. Looking back, I can’t believe I let people treat me like that.”

Paris also admitted that she wouldn’t have made her infamous 2003 leaked sex tape had she not suffered the abuse in school.

“I would never have let anyone into my life like [the man in the tape, whom she was dating at the time].

“I met the worst person I could meet and if I hadn’t gone to [the school], I wouldn’t have entertained the thought of letting him into my life. [The school] affected my future relationships.”

Paris previously spoke to the publication about the abuse she endured in school, revealing: “I buried my truth for so long, but I’m proud of the strong woman I’ve become. People might assume everything in my life came easy to me, but I want to show the world who I truly am.”

“I knew it was going to be worse than anywhere else. It was supposed to be a school, but [classes] were not the focus at all.

“From the moment I woke up until I went to bed, it was all day screaming in my face, yelling at me, continuous torture,” she said.

“The staff would say terrible things. They were constantly making me feel bad about myself and bully me. I think it was their goal to break us down.”
