Jack Reynor in the final shortlist for new Star Wars movie

Jack Reynor is one step closer to playing Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off.

Making the final shortlist for Disney and Lucasfilm’s new film series, the Wicklow man will face off against Hail, Caesar’s Alden Ehrenrich and Taron Egerton, the star of The Kingsman and Eddie the Eagle.

According to The Hollywood Reporter,  sources revealed the actors flew to London last weekend to test again for the role, made famous by Harrison Ford.

Meanwhile, it’s unclear if the Glassland star or the other actors in the running took part in screen tests while in the UK.

The final three actors were plucked from a previous group of 10 leading men including Whiplash’s Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort, the Fault in Our Stars and Divergent, who previously met with film bosses.

Emory Cohen, who played Saoirse Ronan’s love interest in the Oscar-nominated Brooklyn, also tested for the part.

Previously speaking about the coveted role, which focus’ on the early life of Han Solo, Jack admitted it would blow his “f***ing mind”.

“If I have an opportunity to play that character of course it will blow my f***ing mind! It’s Han Solo!” he said.

“Who doesn’t love that character? Who doesn’t love Harrison Ford? They’re massive boots to fill but if I’m granted the opportunity I’ll go for it full steam ahead and give it my best shot.”
