Damien Rice slams crowd goers for talking during his gig

Damien Rice has slammed his fans for talking during his gig and shut the bar down.

The singer was performing in the Big Top at the Galway International Arts Festival last night and the audience weren’t too happy about his demands.

“Are we at a cattle mart or a concert,” he said to the crowd.

It has also been reported that the Cannoball hit maker requested that the bar be closed while he performed which didn’t go down well with punters.

“It was very strange and disappointing. He shut the bar which didn’t go down well at a festival. It should have been made known that it was going to be a non alcohol event. Then he was an hour late coming on stage and no engagement with his audience at all Bar giving out to the crowd for talking?,” one attendee said on social media.

“He insulted the crowd and lost his manners completely, he’s an unreal singer/songwriter but he said to the crowd stop talking,go to the Roisin if ye want to talk,” someone else said.

While some were disspointed with the singer, others were very unhappy about the noise coming from the crowd which they felt disrupted the gig.

“People should’ve had more respect for him,” one person posted on social media. 

“Lisa Hannigans gig from about 3 years ago ruined by the constant talking and laughing by a large section of the crowd. I’d say most of these people who obviously have no interest in the artist are there on freebies of one kind or another,” someone else added.

“The big top crowd tonight was a disgrace all because of a very loud minority who didn’t give a crap about his music,” another said.
