Aoibhinn McGinnity lands first major role on US TV show

Aoibhinn McGinnity has landed her first major role since moving stateside to try and make it in America.

The Love/Hate star travelled to the US to try her hand at carving out a new career and has signed up with major TV station HBO.

The Dublin native will star as Marcy in new series Quarry – based on the novels by Max Allan Collins.

Quarry tells the story of Mac Conway, a Marine who returns to Memphis from Vietnam in 1972.

Mac struggles to deal with the ordeal of his wartime experiences and soon gets caught up in a world of killing and corruption.

The series is currently filming in New Orleans and Tennessee and Aoibhinn stars as the love interest of one of the criminal leaders.

“The show stars Logan Marshall-Green, Peter Mullan and Jodi Balfour and is being made by Cinemax for HBO. It has already been green-lit for eight episodes,” an Insider told The Mirror.

Quarry is expected to be broadcast in Ireland and the US early next year.

It comes after Aoibhinn moved to New York earlier this year to follow in the footsteps of close friend and actress Charlene McKenna.
