Maura Higgins is using her new-found Love Island fame to raise awareness of cervical cancer.
The Longford born model took to Twitter to post about normalising the process of getting a smear test to minimize the potential stress and anxiety women can feel about getting them.
“Smear tests aren’t always easy so let’s help #EndSmearFear by talking more about them,” she wrote.
“I got the nation talking about Fanny Flutters now let’s do the same with vaginas, cervixes and smear tests!”
“Starting with a hunt for our favourite vagina emoji,” she tweeted, adding a butterfly emoji.Â
The star has been praised for using her platform to address an important issue.
