Video: Vogue Williams fights for same sex marriage – 'If I have a gay child I want them to marry'

Vogue Williams has taken part in a new campaign to encourage the Irish government to allow gay marriage.

The model and DJ who is married to Brian McFadden says in the video that she wants her gay sister Amber to be able to tie the knot, just like she did.

“I want my sister to be able to get married, I want her to be able to have the same rights as me,” she says.

Speaking in the video called Our Equal Marriage, Vogue says she wants the laws in place now, so if she has a gay child they can also marry legally.

“If I have a gay child I want them to be able to get married,” she says.

“I want everybody to live happy ever after and just be equal.”

“It’s almost like ‘you’re doing something wrong so you can’t have what we have’,” she continues.

“That’s how I see it, and if I was gay myself it would be heart breaking not to be able to get married.”

“When you’re growing up whether you are gay or straight you do always think of the end game, that you’re going to get married, that you’re going to have kids,” she adds.

The new campaign was created by Dubliner Rob Wright, who told Goss.ie he hopes the video will help make a change.

“The video explores the stigma that surrounds same sex relationships that are not fully recognised in Ireland.”

“The main aim of the video is to show that equal marriage will not only be a positive step for the LGBT community but will positively affect our hetrosexual family and friends as they want us to be happy and to enjoy the same rights as they do.”
