Piers Morgan thinks Declan Donnelly should carry on his TV career without Ant McPartlin.

The outspoken TV presenter discussed Ant and Dec on GMB this week, in the wake of Ant McPartlin returning to rehab after he crashed his car into two other vehicles under the influence.

Piers said that Dec should continue on without Ant and possibly find a new co host.

Speaking about the pact Ant and Dec have with each other, which is that they will not go on with out one another, Piers said, “Ant should make a public statement to confirm he has given his long-time friend his blessing to go solo or find a temporary presenting pal while he takes some time out from the spotlight.”

Co-host Susanna Reid said that although the duo have made a pact, “I don’t think they would have taken into account an illness.”

Piers agreed with Susanna and added that, “If Ant was to say publicly the show must go on, they’ve got big teams of people working for them on these shows, their livelihoods are affected as well.”

“I think that would be the right thing to do. I think Dec should carry on, with somebody else, if necessary,” he said.

While Piers thinks that Ant should continue on his own, he also understands that Dec would not go on without Ant’s blessing.

“Dec can’t be seen to be knifing his mate, but I don’t think he is. Ant would have to say ‘I’ve told him to do this’.”
