U2 and Colin Farrell to contribute to book celebrating fathers and sons

A host of famous Irish faces are sharing their personal stories and anecdotes about the special bond men share with their sons in a new book Sons + Fathers.

The book which is in aid of the Irish Hospice Foundation came about after U2’s Bono donated some sentimental drawings that he made of his father towards the end of his life.

Contributors to the book include filmmakers Neil Jordan and John Boorman as well as Hollywood actors Daniel Day-Lewis, Gabriel Byrne and Colin Farrell.

Other famous names involved in the project are musicians Paul McCartney, Gavin Friday and Bob Geldof with writers John Banville and Roddy Doyle also sharing their stories.

Some of the world’s most high profile men have added their personal contributions including President Clinton, Alastair Campbell and Bobby Shriver.

Sons + Fathers is available in book stores and to buy online from this weekend with proceeds going to The Irish Hospice Foundation’s ‘Nurses for Night Care Service’ and for Hospice Africa Uganda.
