Simon Delaney lands role in popular UK soap

Simon Delaney has landed a role in Coronation Street.

The 46-year-old will appear on the much-loved soap for the first time next month, but it’s not yet known whether his role will be long or short term.

A source told the Sunday World, “Simon plays an Irish character and has already filmed his opening scenes.”

Simon is no stranger to the small screen as he presents TV3’s Saturday AM, and has starred alongside Sean Penn in This Must Be the Place, Vince Vaughn in Delivery Man and Keira Knightley in Begin Again.

Having landed his first big role in RTÉ series Bachelors Walk back in 2001, the presenter has since gone on to star in  The Fall, Moone Boy and The Good Wife.

Fellow Irish man Keith Duffy, best known for his days in Boyzone, previously starred as barman Ciaran McCarthy for 10 years on and off, from 2002 to 2011.
