Paul Mescal to be honoured at Academy Museum Gala in the US

Paul Mescal to be honoured at the fourth annual Academy Museum Gala in the US, alongside Quentin Tarantino and Rita Moreno.

The ceremony will take place on the 19th October in Los Angeles and will see the Irish actor presented with the Vantage Award.

This award honours “an emerging artist who is contributing to contextualising and challenging dominant narratives in film.”

West Side Story star and Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony winner Rita Moreno will receive the Icon Award.

This award will celebrate artists whose career has had a remarkable impact around the world.

Oscar-winning director Quentin Tarantino will receive the Luminary Award – which honours “an artist whose work has expanded creative possibilities in cinema.”

“and I am thrilled we can gather for a fourth year and honour these three amazing artists – Rita Moreno, Quentin Tarantino, and Paul Mescal – whose groundbreaking achievements, filmmaking influence, and demonstrated versatility will continue to inspire generations of artists and filmmakers.”

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures was built by the Oscars organiser the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

It was opened in 2021 as an annual fundraising gala which raises funds to support museum exhibitions, education initiatives, and public programming for the local community of Los Angeles.

Paul, who shot to fame after landing a role in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s bestselling novel Normal People, was nominated for his role in Aftersun back in January.

The actor was nominated in the Best Actor category at the Oscars for his role in Aftersun alongside huge names such as Colin Farrell, Austin Butler, Brendan Fraiser and Bill Nighy.
