Irish celebrities who were very vocal in the lead up to the referendum on the 8th amendment – have celebrated the official results.
1,429,981 people voted Yes and 723,632 people voted No. Making a total of 66.4% votes for Yes and 33.6% no votes.
Cillian Murphy, Niall Horan, Hozier and Bono were among some the famous Irish men who came out in favour of repealing the eighth. F
Famous supporters of the repeal campaign like Laura Whitmore, Sharon Horgan and Amy Huberman have taken to social media today to share their joy about the landslide victory.

The Taoiseach advocated for a ‘Yes’ vote and called the referendum a “quiet revolution” as he took in the scenes in Dublin castle where the official referendum result wa announced.

Vogue Williams was vocal about her intention to repeal the eight as she attended marches and shared pleas for a ‘Yes’ vote with her social media following.
She was delighted to wake up to “a more compassinate Ireland” and also said, “I’m more than happy to pay for John Waters one way ticket out of Ireland, anywhere you want John! Slan ????”

Amy Huberman has been finding the day emotional taking to Twitter to tell her fans she shed some tears in a spin class because she was overwhelmed with the “rollercoaster” that was the referendum.
Roz Purcell
Roz Purcell shared sweet snaps with her family saying her dad hadn’t stopped smiling all day as the results were coming through. She even had Willaaay canvassing for the canine vote putting a Yes badge on his collar.

James Kavanagh has been tweeting up a storm today as the results come in. He was particularly enamoured with a jumper that read ‘REPEALED’, about which he commented “Oh we love a prepared queen ???? #Repealed”

Aisling Bea’s celebrations were simple as she advised fans to “Get the Tipex out lads.” She also joked about wearing the same thing as her sister today, a REPEAL jumper.
