Ray D’Arcy has revealed why he’ll never set up a Twitter account.<\/p>\n

The radio host had humble beginnings on RTE’s Radio na Gaeltachta in the 1980s before heading over to Today FM in the late 1990s where his morning show became a huge hit.<\/p>\n

“I’m not on Twitter, and I don’t go reading it either. I don’t think it will enhance my life in any shape or form. I’m never going to go on it,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Kildare native admitted that not having Twitter around when he was with Today FM helped his show.<\/p>\n

“Twitter is like prog rock. It came along at a time when it didn\u2019t suit my life. I was too young for prog rock. Twitter is the same for me now,” he told the Irish Sun.<\/p>\n

“When I started on Today FM, Twitter didn’t exist and people weren’t so forensically going through everything that happened in the media.<\/p>\n

“That helped, as we did loads of rubbish radio trying to find out what people wanted.”<\/p>\n

The 52-year-old also admitted that it’s a much more difficult job for people in radio nowadays such as Anton Savage.<\/p>\n

“For five days a week, three hours a day, nobody was taking us to task.<\/p>\n

“Nobody expected anything of us, so we were able to build that show into a success,” he added.<\/p>\n
