Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello have separated and are divorcing, after seven years of marriage.<\/p>\n

The Modern Family star, 51, and the True Blood actor, 46, confirmed the sad news in a statement shared with Page Six.<\/p>\n

They said: “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

A source added: \u201cSof\u00eda and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sofia is currently celebrating her 51st birthday with friends in Italy, and eagle-eyed friends noticed she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring in photos from the trip.<\/p>\n

Another insider told the publication: \u201cAt the start of Sofia\u2019s big birthday trip those close to her were explaining away Joe\u2019s absence with the excuse that he was busy filming back on the East Coast; that excuse barely held up due to the writers strike, but once the actor\u2019s strike took effect, he could have been on the first flight\u2026 and he quite clearly is not.”<\/p>\n

\u201cSo now no one out there with her is even attempting to pretend that it\u2019s not over. It\u2019s over. It\u2019s done.\u201d<\/p>\n
