{"id":254200,"date":"2021-05-09T10:16:07","date_gmt":"2021-05-09T09:16:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/goss.ie\/?p=254200"},"modified":"2021-05-09T14:37:30","modified_gmt":"2021-05-09T13:37:30","slug":"watch-meghan-markle-makes-first-tv-appearance-since-oprah-interview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goss.ie\/la-showbiz\/watch-meghan-markle-makes-first-tv-appearance-since-oprah-interview-254200","title":{"rendered":"WATCH: Meghan Markle makes first TV appearance since Oprah interview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Meghan Markle has made her first TV appearance since her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.<\/p>\n<p>The star-studded Vax Live concert took place last Sunday &#8211; before streaming on ABC, CBS, YouTube, and iHeartMedia radio stations on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>While Prince Harry <a href=\"https:\/\/goss.ie\/royals\/prince-harry-attends-star-studded-vax-live-concert-without-meghan-markle-253554\">attended the event in-person<\/a>, his pregnant wife made a virtual appearance on the night.<\/p>\n<p>In her speech, the Duchess of Sussex said: &#8220;This year has been defined by communities coming together, tirelessly and heroically, to tackle Covid-19.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve gathered here tonight as the road ahead is getting brighter, but it&#8217;s going to take every one of us to find our way forward.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cWomen, and especially women of colour, have seen a generation of economic gain wiped out. We want to make sure that as we recover, we recover stronger. That as we rebuild, we rebuild together. You served and sacrificed, put yourselves in harm\u2019s way and with bravery knowing the costs. We owe you an incredible depth of gratitude, thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we\u2019re also coming together because this pandemic cannot end unless we act collectively with an unprecedented commitment to our shared humanity. In reality, and especially with this pandemic, when any suffer, we all suffer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must look beyond ourselves with empathy and compassion for those we know, and those we don\u2019t.
