Emily Blunt has revealed that Meryl Streep’s character in The Devil Wears Prada actually wasn’t based on Vogue boss Anna Wintour.

It’s been 13 years since the hit movie was released, and over the years, fans had always believed that Meryl’s character Miranda Priestly was inspired by US Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour.

This was largely due to the fact that the film was adapted from a book written by Laren Weisberger, who previously worked as Anna’s assistant.

Speaking in an NPR Podcast, Emily Blunt, who played Miranda’s assistant in the film, said: “Meryl didn’t actually base it on Anna Wintour – well, she told Anna that.”

“She based it on two men in Hollywood that she knew – who will remain nameless, but I know who they are.”

The film, which also starred Anne Hathaway as the lead, was released in 2006, grossing more than $300 million worldwide.
