Businesswoman of the Year 2022

The Goss.ie Women of the Year Awards will take place on Sunday, October 9th at The Royal Marine Hotel Dun Laoghaire, with broadcaster Gráinne Seoige as host.

We will honour women across multiple genres, including business, the arts, social justice and sports. Plus we have launched a special ‘Local Hero’ category, where Goss.ie readers can nominate local women in their area.

This year the awards are in partnership with Google, Casillero del Diablo, Woulfe and Dingle Distillery. 

Women’s Aid is our official charity partner for 2022 and will be delivering a keynote speech at the awards, we will also be running a charity raffle on the day to raise funds for the charity.

A highly-esteemed and all-female judging panel will decide the winners of each category.

For our Businesswoman of the Year category, sponsored by Google, our highly-esteemed judging panel looked for women making a stamp on their chosen industries.

Whether they’re scaling a business within Ireland, to succeeding internationally, the judging panel nominated women making huge strides in the business world.

Aimee Connolly
Founder of Sculpted by Aimee

Sculpted by Aimee is one of the fastest-growing Irish brands in the beauty market.

The company now employs more than twenty-five staff. The company is currently global domination.

In 2021 Aimee won the EY Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Aimee is a qualified makeup artist with more than 12 years of experience.

 

Sinead Fitzmaurice
CEO of TransferMate

Sinead Fitzmaurice was appointed CEO of TransferMate in 2019, after acting as CFO of the company since it was founded in 2010 by entrepreneur Terry Clune.

The company is a provider of B2B payments infrastructure as a service, enabling companies to send and receive cross-border payments faster, easier and cheaper.

TransferMate is Ireland’s seventh tech unicorn – and the only one led by an Irish woman (becoming a privately owned tech company with a valuation of €100 million).

TransferMate has the largest portfolio of payment licenses worldwide. They trade in 160 countries and in 134 currencies.

Co-Founders Spotlight Oral Care

Founded in 2016 by all dentists, all products are created by the founders themselves.

Spotlight Oral Care initially developed teeth whitening strips and toothpaste, the company now provides a variety of products, including toothpaste for specific teeth issues, from sensitive teeth to gum. health.

They have also released a range of toothbrushes, dental floss, mouthwashes, teeth whitening pens, and a Sonic Toothbrush and Water Flosser.

In 2021 the company secured €12 million in investment, which has helped the business further expand into the USA, UK and Scandinavia.

The business ensures its products are sustainable, with fully recyclable toothpaste tubes.

 

Oonagh O’Hagan
Owner & Managing Director of Meagher’s Pharmacy Group

Oonagh O’Hagan is a qualified pharmacist as well as a successful business owner.

She bought Meagher’s Pharmacy on Dublin’s Baggot Street in her early 20s and now has nine pharmacies and an impressive online store at www.meaghers.ie.

Oonagh employs more than 150 people and most recently launched Symprove Ireland, a new distribution company for food supplement Symprove.

Symprove has quickly become a popular health product, which is scientifically proven to restore the balance of good bacteria to the microbiome, and is now involved in clinical studies for the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease

 

Chupi Sweetman
Founder & CEO of Chupi

Chupi founded her popular jewellery brand in 2011.

After becoming the youngest ever designer to work for Topshop (at the age of 21), Chupi decided to move from fast fashion to something that lasts forever – her signature diamonds.

Chupi now employs over 60 people, and sells their products internationally, from London to Tokyo.

In recent years the Chupi brand has stood out across social platforms, with the Chupi Instagram account hailed for its stunning photography and touching love stories.

With over 152,000 followers to date, the digital strategy is definitely paying off.
