Artist of the Year 2022

The Goss.ie Women of the Year Awards will take place on Sunday, October 9th at The Royal Marine Hotel Dun Laoghaire, with broadcaster Gráinne Seoige as host.

We will honour women across multiple genres, including business, the arts, social justice and sports. Plus we have launched a special ‘Local Hero’ category, where Goss.ie readers can nominate local women in their area.

This year the awards are in partnership with Google, Casillero del Diablo, Woulfe and Dingle Distillery.

Women’s Aid is our official charity partner for 2022 and will be delivering a keynote speech at the awards, we will also be running a charity raffle on the day to raise funds for the charity.

A highly-esteemed and all-female judging panel will decide the winners of each category.

Ireland is bursting with female talent when it comes to the arts, and this year we are honouring performers.

Whether they are dominating the music scene in Ireland or they’re making waves internationally, these women are at the top of their game.

Take a look at this year’s nominees:

Tolü McKay

Soulful singer Tolü McKay has become one of the most talked-about Irish artists in the last year.

Tolü’s 2020 single Don’t Let Go reached the No.1 spot on RTÉ Radio 1’s airplay charts and her track You Are Enough has been spotlighted by BBC’s Across The Line as The Best Song In The World, while also being selected as a 2FM Track of the Week.

She just played Electric Picnic and last year took home the prize for Female Artist of the Year at the inaugural Black & Irish Awards.

Just last month the singer performed at the new season launch of RTÉ where she received a standing ovation.

Lyra

Known for her incredible voice, and stylish fashion choices, Lyra is having one hell of a career so far.

The Cork songstress launched her first EP W.I.L.D back in 2016, and subsequently signed with Polydor Records and Universal Music the following year.

In 2021, she joined Boy George, Aston Merrygold, Deirdre O’Kane and Jedward on the panel of Virgin Media One’s talent show The Big Deal.
