Westlife's Markus Feehily to duet with Sam Smith?

Singer Markus Feehily could be set to join forces with international star Sam Smith.

The Westlife singer is releasing his debut solo album, and revealed he worked closely with Mojam – who produce Sam Smith’s records.

Markus’s new single Love Is A Drug is co-written by Mojam, and admitted fans want him to duet with Stay With Me singer Sam.

“I heard about Mojam before I realised they had done Sam Smith’s last single but it’s obviously a great bonus that they did because he’s obviously a here and now kind of artist.

“He’s massive and he’s great as well. I have a lot of respect for him. I didn’t initially ask them because of Sam Smith.

“I think my sound is different to his. All the time on Twitter people every day say, ‘Sam Smith really reminds me of you, his voice really reminds me of you. You should do a duet’ and all this stuff.

“It’s a massive compliment. But I wasn’t trying to follow that at all,” he told the Sunday Mirror.

Meanwhile Markus admitted he has been working on new music ever since the band split in 2012, despite only releasing an album now.

“I did stuff straight away it just wasn’t in the public eye,” he revealed.

“I was in America, London, Sligo, everywhere really, just finding my feet. I was able to live life and write songs at the same time because I was completely on my own schedule.

“Especially at the start before things really started picking up pace I was just contacting people myself and putting in sessions.

“Living life was one part that I definitely needed to get out of my system,” he said.
