They have constantly been pitted against each other, and now the tensions are high between Fair City and Red Rock.
TV3 launched their police drama last year and Fair City has been a fan favourite since 1989 but now TV3 are claiming RTE stole music from their ads.
A new ad running for Fair City’s Christmas Special is played to the background of a Lorde song – that TV3 previously used for Red Rock.
A TV3 source told the Herald that they saw the copying of hthe music as a compliment – whereas RTE insiders say TV3 have completely overreacted, as it’s just a song.
“The song is really popular and is very well suited to dramatic themes, so that’s why it was used,” the RTE insider said.
Seems perfectly over-dramatic for soap land…
