Caitriona Balfe and Sarah Greene up for IFTA Rising Star nominees

The IFTA Rising Star nominations have been announced with the winner being announced at the IFTA Film and Drama Awards on Sunday May 24th.

Tony award nominee Sarah Greene has bagged a nomination along side Outlander star Caitriona Balfe.

The nominees were selected by a special jury and the aim of the award is to highlight a breakthrough star with exceptional talent.

“The IFB are delighted to sponsor the Rising Star award and we are excited to see how our four nominees progress in their careers,” James Hickey of IFB said.

The nominees for the Rising Star Award are:

Caitriona Balfe – Actress Outlander

Moe Dunford – Actor Patrick’s Day

Donal Foreman – Writer/ Director Out of Here

Sarah Greene – Actress Noble

In 2014, the coveted Rising Star Award was won by Jamie Dornan and 2013 saw Director Gerard Barrett take the title.

“This important award showcases four superb Irish talents who have shown themselves to be world class professionals in their fields,” said Áine Moriarty Chief Exec of IFTA.

The IFTA’s will be broadcast on TV3 on Monday the 25th and hosted by Caroline Morahan.
