Shawn Mendes has seemingly “addresses” the rumoured love triangle between him, Sabrina Carpenter and Camila Cabello.
In early 2023, the Canadian star was rumoured to be dating the Taste singer – although it was never confirmed.
At the same time, the 26-year-old was reportedly rekindling his relationship with his ex Camila – the “love triangle” has seemingly inspired many songs from the three.
Now during an interview with John Mayer on his SiriuXM show How’s Life, Shawn has opened up about his love life and seemingly referenced the triangle.
In a preview clip for the interview, the singer confessed to being with “someone” days before meeting up with an ex.
He said: “I’m with someone. Two days before going to hang with my ex, [I] express I’m going to hang with my ex because I have unresolved feelings.”
“Maybe instead of two days it could have been two weeks.”
Shawn added: “The biggest lesson I’ve heard is no one gets out of this life without getting hurt, and no one gets out of this life without hurting someone.”
While Shawn, Sabrina or Camila never directly addressed the rumours about an “overlap,” many fans believe song released allude to the triangle.
Sabrina’s hit song Taste lyrics reference a time when someone she was dating quickly rekindled with an ex after ending it with her.
The lyrics teased: “Well, I heard you’re back together and if that’s true, you’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you.”
There are other songs off her latest album, Short ‘N Sweet, that make other references to some she was dating still seeing their ex.
In Smartest Tool, Sabrina sings: “We never talk about how you found God at your ex’s house.”
Following the release of her album earlier this year Sabrina Carpenter fans were convinced that this song is about Shawn and Camilla.
One of the most viral theories at the time is that Sabrina’s song Dumb and Poetic and Coincidence are attacks on her ex Shawn and his on-again off-again girlfriend Camila.
Rumours that Sabrina and Sean first started circulating in February 2023, when someone sent in an anonymous tip to gossip account DeuxMoi claiming that the two were spotted on a date at a restaurant in Los Angeles.
At the end of the same month, the duo was seen again strolling around LA and by the end of March, they were spotted leaving Miley Cyrus‘ album release party together.
A source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that the pair were indeed “seeing each other” and trying to keep things low-key.
However, it was clear that Shawn and Sabrina were over when the Stitches singer and Camila were filmed kissing at Coachella in April 2023.

Now, people are saying these lyrics are a reference to the pop couple’s former love triangle.
The song goes: “The second I put my head on your chest, she knew, she’s got a real sixth sense. Now her name comes up once, then it comes up twice, and without her even bein’ here, she’s back in your life. Now she’s in the same damn city on the same damn night.“
Fans were also shocked at lyrics which appeared as a blatant call out of Camila and Shawn being spotted kissing at Coachella.
