Nina Dobrev has revealed she was tricked by her fiancé Shaun White when he proposed to her.
The pair announced their engagement on Wednesday after five years of dating.
The Olympian popped the question when he organised a fake dinner invite for the Vampire Diaries star at The Golden Swan restaurant in New York.
Speaking to Vogue, Shaun revealed he originally planned to propose during their summer holiday.
However, plans changed when Nina was involved in a horror electric bike accident which resulted in the actress needing surgery.
To keep the engagement a surprise, the Olympian decided to get the help of his publicist to set up a dinner with Anna Wintour, Vogue editor-in-chief.
Nina then continued to tell the publication she was “in a panic” when she was late for Anna but instead, her now-fiancé was there.
The Vampire Diaries star went “into shock” when she saw Shaun standing under an arch of white roses.
The couple announced the exciting news on Instagram, where Nina wrote: “RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé.”
