Michelle Trachtenberg was reportedly on the verge of a major career comeback before her shock death.

The Gossip Girl star, who famously played Georgina Sparks in the hit series, tragically died at the age of 39 last week.

Although her cause of death remains a mystery, its understood the actress died shortly after undergoing a liver transplant.

Days since her tragic passing, director Casey Tebo has revealed Michelle was shopping a screenplay she had written to studios before she died.

Casey said the script, called Toy Monster, was one of the best he’d ever read.

According to TMZ, the screenplay is based on the book of the same name, and tells the story of Jack Ryan, who left his job designing missiles for the Pentagon during the Cold War to become chief engineer at Mattel.

Casey revealed he and Michelle struck a deal for the film years ago, but the movie was shelved after the head of the studio left.

The filmmaker is now determined to bring her final work to the silver screen, so she can get the recognition she deserves.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer star was found dead at her apartment in Manhattan on February 26th.

Her cause of death will remain unknown, as her family has declined an autopsy.

Michelle first shot to fame in the 1996 film Harriet the Spy, when she was just 10 years old.

In the early 2000s, she gained further prominence as Buffy’s younger sister Dawn in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

She also had a recurring role as Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl from 2008-2012.
