LA Critics Choice Awards postponed again amid LA wildfires

LA Critics Choice Awards have been postponed again amid the LA wildfires.

Many Hollywood events have been put on hold as a result of the devastation.

US author Stephen King is leading demands to cancel the 2025 Academy Awards ceremony.

He wrote: “IMHO (in my humble opinion) they should cancel them. No glitz with Los Angeles on fire.”

The Critics Choice Association has rescheduled the awards event for the third time.

The “catastrophic fires” forced the original January 12 date to be rescheduled to January 26.

Chelsea Handler will still host the event, which will take place on February 7 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

Organisers have said: “There will no longer be a Live from E!: Critics Choice Awards two-hour red carpet special ahead of the telecast.”

Along with US celebrities Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Pink, and Katy Perry, British musicians Rod Stewart and Sting were scheduled to play at a charity performance called FireAid to fund rescue efforts.

On January 30, the “one night only” event will be aired and streamed live from the Intuit Dome and the nearby Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Along with Gwen Stefani, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Gracie Abrams, Green Day, Jelly Roll, Earth, Wind & Fire, Lil Baby, Stephen Stills, and Tate McRae, the lineup also includes Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks and 10-time Grammy winner Joni Mitchell.
