Kim Kardashian has opened up about her “rare” time off from mom life while her kids were on vacation with their dad Kanye West.
The ex-couple finalised their divorce in 2022 and they share four kids: North West (11), Saint West (9), Chicago West (7), and Psalm West (5).
On the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kim went on a night away glamping alongside her sister Khloé Kardashian and mom Kris Jenner, and told them: “It’s rare that I get time off as a mom.”
She continued: “But there’s always something new that you can try, so why not go on a gorgeous, luxurious trip to Joshua Tree like Khloe wants?”
However, the SKIMS founder’s oldest child, North, called her complaining about jet lag while she was on the way to the California national park.
“North is in China with her dad, she’s performing with him,” Kim explained in a confessional. “But she is still my baby, so she calls me for everything.”
“I’m just so hungry,” North told her mom as she seemingly struggled to order room service from her hotel in China, and added: “This is so hard.”
Kim ended up staying on the phone to her daughter for a long duration of the journey, and told her: “We’re in the desert so just in case it cuts out, I love you so much. I’ll talk to you definitely before the show.”
In a previous episode of this season of The Kardashians, the mom-of-four explained how her relationship with North has evolved in recent years following her split from Kanye.
“North is obsessed with me now and calls me with her friends. Like, ‘Mom, I love you. You’re the best mom, I love you so much,’” Kim told her sister Kourtney Kardashian.
She explained how North spent a year being “mad” at her after she and her dad split up.
“I think it was all the divorce. It’s insane, the turnaround,” Kim said in relation to her 11-year-old’s behaviour.
In a 2023 episode of The Kardashians, Kim explained that North prefers living with dad while in another conversation with Kourtney.
“She’ll be like, ‘Dad is the best.’ ‘He has it all figured out. He doesn’t have a nanny, he doesn’t have a chef, he doesn’t have security. He lives in an apartment,’” she said.
“And she’ll start crying, ‘Why don’t you have an apartment? I can’t believe we don’t have an apartment.’”
Although the pair went through a messy divorce, Kim confirmed that “Kanye and I want the best for the kids.”
