Jamie Foxx has opened up about his “near-death experience” in his new Netflix special.
According to an audience member who saw Jamie Foxx’s new Netflix special, the actor revealed he was in a coma during his health emergency.
In October, the 56-year-old Oscar winner shot his new special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was, in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to PEOPLE, an audience member named Demecos Chambers said Jamie told the audience he was “literally seconds and moments away from death” when he collapsed in April 2023.
Demecos reported: “It was just pure exhaustion. His body was just exhausted due to him getting up there in age, and his body just faltering out on him.”
At the time of his medical emergency, Jamie was in Georgia filming his new Netflix movie, Back in Action, with Cameron Diaz, however, he did not pass out on the set.
The audience member explained: “When he passed out, he thought he was just out for a few moments.”
“He basically passed out in an elevator and he thought he woke up a couple hours later. Well, he was actually in a coma and didn’t wake up until a few weeks later.”
They recalled that Jamie’s daughter would play the guitar for him, which he revealed was what “essentially brought him out of his coma.”

“She’s playing one of their favorite songs or whatever on a daily basis. And he said that’s the only thing that he could recall hearing in his sleep, and it brought him essentially out of his coma,” they explained.
The audience member continued by disclosing that Jamie had to work on his motor skills since he “had to start from day one” when he woke up and checked himself into a rehabilitation centre.

In a new trailer for the special, The Grammy and Oscar-winning comedy legend says: “I’m back and I’m so glad to see you all here. I’m so glad to be here.”
He teases: “What had happened was,” appearing to reveal what happened.
However, the teaser ends abruptly before Jamie can speak.
Jamie urged his fans to “come hear my story” after posting the teaser on social media.
