Cardi B has defended Offset amid their divorce following claims he was unsupportive during their marriage.
The Bodak Yellow rapper recently filed for divorce from Offset, with whom she shares two children and is currently pregnant with her third.
The mother-of-two filed the divorce papers after seven years of marriage on Thursday.
The 31-year-old responded to People’s claim she filed for divorce because her marriage was “more of a distraction than support.”
After the claims were circulated by celebrity blog The Jasmine Brand, Cardi took to the comments of the Instagram post to clear the air.
She wrote: “‘OK this is getting weird cause I can say he helps me a lot with my business and the kids.”
“Never in my career, no matter what I went through, [have] I had friends or family go to the media, sooo I don’t know who is this damn source going to People magazine.”
She added: “Even with my [divorce] filing, I’m not asking for child support. My [request] is for him to only pay for the bills he already pays on the kids and the new one.”
The rapper is reportedly seeking primary custody of their children Kulture, five, and Wave, two.
The rap star’s rep confirmed to Page Six the news that the couple have officially parted ways.
A source told the publication: “They’ve grown apart. That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else. This is something she wants to do.”
They claimed Offset wasn’t caught off guard by the divorce, saying they’ve “been trying to figure out what their future looks like for a while now.”
The insider continued: “It’s not something that happened overnight… They’ve both been on the same page.”
“There wasn’t [pushback]. They’ve grown apart and that feeling has gotten stronger overtime. It’s become unavoidable.”
