Anora dominated the 2025 Oscar awards, taking home five awards.
In the whirlwind drama, Scream star and relative newcomer Madison plays a stripper from New York who falls in love with the son of a wealthy Russian.
The actress was up against Cynthia Erivo, Karla Sofia Gascón, Demi Moore, and Fernanda Torres, and many believed Demi would win.

The director, Sean Baker, broke the record for most awards won for a single film, winning Best Director, Best Editing, Best Original Screenplay and Best Picture.
In 1953, Walt Disney won four awards in one night, but for four different films, making Sean the first to win for a single film.
Mikey Madison said of her win: “This is very surreal. I grew up in Los Angeles but Hollywood always felt so far away from me, so to be here standing in this room today is really incredible.”
She added: “I want to honour and recognise the sex worker community. I will continue to support and be an ally… the women I’ve had the privilege of meeting from that community has been one of the highlights of this entire incredible experience.”
Sean Baker, the director of Anora, thanked Quentin Tarantino in his speech, claiming if he hadn’t of cast Mikey in Once A Time In Hollywood, Anora never would have came to be.
“If you didn’t cast Mikey Madison..there’d be no Anora,” he said.
The film had a phenomenal award season, winning the Palme d’Or at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Casting at the BAFTAS, and Best Picture at the Critics Choice Movie Awards.
