Zayn Malik admits his reason for leaving One Direction was FAKE

The singer left the band in 2015

Zayn has admitted that his reason for leaving One Direction was fake.

The singer left the band in March 2015 and said he was leaving the band because he wanted to live like “a normal 22-year-old.”

“I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight,” he said at the time.

However, when Zayn was asked if he felt “normal” now, he revealed that the words he spoke at the time weren’t his – but perhaps a 35-year-old lawyer’s words.

“I’m going to ask you a question now – do you think I wrote that? Like, look how it’s worded,” he told ES Magazine.

“I’m not a 35-year-old lawyer. I don’t write like that.”

Six days before the 23-year-old left the band, he pulled out of One Direction’s On The Road tour due to “stress”. The singer also recently admitted that he had an eating disorder while in the band.
