Winona Ryder has opened up about her relationship with Johnny Depp, and admitted that he was “never abusive” towards her.
The actor is currently going through a messy divorce with wife, Amber Heard, who has filed a court order against him for domestic abuse.
“He was never, never that way towards me. Never abusive at all towards me,” the actress admitted.

Winona and Johnny met in 1989 and got engaged in 1990 before ending their relationship three years later.
“I can only speak from my own experience, which was wildly different than what is being said,” the 44-year-old revealed to TIME Magazine.
“I only know him as a really good, loving, caring guy who is very, very protective of the people that he loves.
“It’s hard because I feel like—that’s my experience. And it’s been a very long time.”

The Minnesota native admitted that it’s hard to imagine someone you dated would be accused of being violent.
“It’s really hard. It’s weird because imagine if someone you dated when you were—I was 17 when I met him—was accused of that.
“It’s just shocking. I have never seen him be violent toward a person before.
“It’s such a serious, horrible thing to be accused of,” Winona added.
