Taylor Swift ‘secretly wrote’ Calvin Harris’s latest hit

Sources have claimed that Taylor Swift wrote This is What You Came For, her ex-beau Calvin Harris’s chart-topping hit.

TMZ have reported the popstar wrote the track before their infamous split.

Taylor reportedly broke it off with Calvin after she felt he “disrespected” her contributions on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show the day the song dropped.

Sources close to Taylor told the gossip site that Taylor penned the song and recorded the first demo with a piano and her iPhone.

Love lost: Taylor and Calvin aren’t speaking

She then apparently sent it to Calvin, who loved it. Then the couple hit the studio. They recorded a full demo, with Taylor on vocals and Calvin whipping up the track.

They both realized the song would be a hit, sources told TMZ. However, they didn’t want news of their couple collaboration to distract from the track.

Taylor kept the publishing rights under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg. The fact that there isn’t any songwriter’s media presence under that name seems to confirm that it’s Taylor.

On April 29th, Calvin released the song with Rihanna. Today, it remains #2 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic chart and #4 on the Billboard 100 chart.

“Nils Sjoberg” lurked unnoticed as a composer in the credits.

The situation – which already had destructive potential – began to crumble when Calvin spoke with Ryan Seacrest on the radio.

“Will you do a collaboration with your girlfriend?” Ryan asked.

“You know we haven’t even spoken about it. I can’t see it happening though.” Calvin responded. Mistake, Calvin.

Sources told TMZ that Taylor felt hurt by Calvin’s dismissive comment. Even though they wanted to keep their collaboration on the down-low, Taylor felt that Calvin went too far.

One source called it “the breaking point in the relationship.” Several days later, Taylor danced with Tom Hiddleston at the Met Gala.

Taylor still has publishing rights – she has the right to forbid Calvin from performing the song. However, she hasn’t exercised that right.

The situation isn’t new for Calvin – he wrote I Will Never Let You Down for Rita Ora while the two dated. After the breakup, he prohibited Rita from performing the track.

TMZ reported that the Taylor sources are talking now because “they’re sick of Calvin trashing Taylor and feel he should be thanking her for quietly giving him a smash hit.”
