Prince Harry has admitted that he never really dealt with Princess Diana’s passing.

His mother passed away in a car accident when he was just 12 years old on August 31st, 1997.

“[I] didn’t want to think about it,” he said about his mother’s death.

Princess Diana was fatally injured in a car crash in a tunnel in Paris in 1997 and was then rushed to Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital where she later died.

“I never really dealt with what had happened,” he said in a recent documentary the mark the tenth anniversary of the charity Sentebale.

“It was a lot of buried emotion. For a huge part of my life I didn’t really want to think about it.”

The royal revealed that it was his mother’s charity work that inspired him to become involved.

“I used to bury my head in the sand and let everything around you sort of tear you to pieces.

“I was fighting the system, going ‘I don’t want to be this person.’

“My mother died when I was very, very young and I don’t want to be in this position.

“[But now I’m] energised, fired up, to be lucky enough to be in a position to make a difference.”
