NME

Indie rock band The Maccabees have announced that they’re set to split.

The Londoner’s formed their five piece back in 2004, and released a total of four albums together – but now they’re calling it quits.

In a statement posted to Facebook and Twitter, the band wrote, “After 14 years as a band we have decided to call it a day.”

The band also reassured fans that, “There have not been fallings out and we are grateful to say that we are not leaving the group behind as a divided force.”

The group also added that they will “continue making music”, and promised that some farewell celebration shows will take place at some stage this year.

Signing off, they wrote, “Thank you for the countless good times that we will never forget. Take care and we will be in touch soon.”
