LISTEN: Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and more record charity single for Orlando

Stars including Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani and Selena Gomez have teamed up to release a charity single.

The single, entitled Hands, features a total of 24 artists and will be released by Interscope Records following the tragic shooting that took place at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida last month.

The stunning song was written by Justin Tranter, who has co-written hit tracks for Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Gwen Stefani and Fall Out Boy.

The 36-year-old was left horrified by the news of the shooting, causing him to sign up as a volunteer at The Center Orlando, an LGBT community center, where he then met GLAAD CEO Sarah Kate Ellis – and came up with the idea of a charity single.

Speaking to Billboard, Justin Tranter said, “Like the rest of the world I woke up to the news that morning and was horrified and sad and scared.”

“We assigned everybody what we thought would be the best part for their voice,” he said. “And we asked them all to sing an additional part, just in case. But everybody got it done in time so we ended up with extra vocals.

Other artists that featured on Hands included Mary J. Blige, Adam Lambert, Meghan Trainor, Jason Derulo among many others.

“Mary J. Blige recorded in New Orleans. Britney Spears in Thousand Oaks, I think. Pink in Santa Barbara. MNEK recorded at home in London. Selena recorded in her studio bus. Dan Reynolds recorded in his home. Adam Lambert was in Luxembourg. Ty Herndon the country star was in Spain. Kacey Musgraves, Nashville. Everyone just got it done.”

Mark Ronson helped co-produce the track, which will be available to purchase on iTunes.

Proceeds from Hands will go to the Equality Florida Pulse Victims Fund, GLAAD, and the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida.
