Liam Payne did the sweetest thing for Cheryl’s birthday

Liam Payne has seriously earned himself some brownie points.

The 1D star’s girlfriend Cheryl turned 33 this week, and while it was rumoured that Liam bought the Girls Aloud star a MASSIVE sparkler – that, in fact, was not the case.

Instead of buying the brunette beauty an extravagant gift, he decided to donate money to Cheryl’s Trust, the charity she set up in association with The Prince’s Trust, to “help young people realise their potential and get their lives back on track”.

Speaking about Liam’s sweet gift, a source close to the couple told the MailOnline, “She was over the moon, she thought it was a really lovely gesture. She’s already got everything she needs”.

A source also told The Sun, “Cheryl was taken aback by the gesture. She genuinely wasn’t expecting it and was truly touched.

“It was an easy choice for Liam – he knew it was the right thing to do.”

The charity is currently building a youth centre in Newcastle, to help the region’s most at-risk young people, including those facing drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness, mental health problems and those leaving care.

Meanwhile, the happy couple celebrated Cheryl’s 33rd birthday with her Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh and friends, at Coya restaurant in London.

The news comes after it was reported that Cheryl may join the Strictly Come Dancing line-up.
