Laura Whitmore has failed to nab the presenting role on ITV’s The Xtra Factor.
The MTV star was tipped for the role after she decided to quit I’m A Celebrity.. Get Me Out Of Here Now! earlier this year – but unfortunately Laura didn’t make the cut.
It was confirmed today that BBC Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson will take on the role, taking over from Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom.

Speaking about his new role, Matt said, “I am unbelievably excited about joining The Xtra Factor this year, not least of all because on my first day Louis Walsh walked into my dressing room topless, unannounced.
“I regard this as the definition of ‘living the dream,'” he said.
Rumours were also rife that Nicky Byrne was up for the gig, after a source told the Irish Mail on Sunday, “A number of people are being considered the position and Nick is on the list. He has plenty of experience on camera and has a great profile in England which is a real plus”.

Unfortunately, Nicky couldn’t attend his screen-test due to Eurovision commitments.
The X Factor is set to breach Irish shores this week as Croke Park is set to host auditions for the talent show.
Judges Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Simon Cowell are all expected to attend on Friday.
